Google is extending its hardware ambitions into premium AI laptops with Googlebook, a partner-built range priced from $899 and designed to connect closely with Android smartphones. The first five models combine Gemini tools, higher-end materials and desktop capabilities drawn from ChromeOS with an Android technology stack. Although pre-orders are open in the United States and launches are scheduled across North America, Europe and Australia in October 2026, Google has yet to announce pricing or availability for the UAE.

• Gemini toolkit: Gemini sits at the centre of the experience, enabling users to draft and organise text, question material shown on-screen and continue work begun on Android phones. Magic Pointer provides contextual actions and suggestions based on displayed content, while Rambler is designed to organise and clean up voice notes.
• Processing capacity: Every model includes at least 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with selected configurations reaching 32GB of RAM. Neural processing units exceed 45 trillion operations per second for on-device AI workloads, while touch displays are available at resolutions up to 2.8K OLED.
• Partner hardware: Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo are producing the range, using aluminium, magnesium and carbon fibre across different devices. A distinctive Glowbar displays notifications and charging status. Other features include backlit keyboards with a dedicated “G” key, fingerprint readers and facial authentication.
• Android continuity: The laptops surface Android apps, files and notifications on the desktop, while allowing users to continue tasks started on a smartphone. The integration directly targets the continuity advantage of Apple’s iPhone and Mac pairing. Security features include Google’s Titan C/C2 chip.
• Price comparison: The five initial models cost between $899 and $1,299. The entry price undercuts the current $1,299 starting price of the MacBook Air. Each purchase also includes 12 months of Google AI Pro, 5TB of cloud storage and access to Gemini Advanced.

Background

Google previously used Pixelbook to demonstrate its vision for premium ChromeOS hardware, launching the original model in 2017 and Pixelbook Go in 2019. Googlebook changes that formula by combining Android foundations, desktop elements from ChromeOS, Gemini services and closer links between laptops and smartphones.
